In the current times, a job in the public banking sector opens the gateway for a lucrative career. It comes with the perks like an attractive salary, job security, good growth, and many more. But how does one apply for such jobs? Institute of Banking Personnel Selection also abbreviated as IBPS is a yearly exam conducted for the selection of Probationary Officers in Public Sector banks. IBPS came into existence only in the year 1984. Prior to this the Personnel Selection Services (PPS) were set up by the government for the selection process. The IBPS makes candidate selections through a common written examination conducted pan India. There is a preliminary exam conducted prior to the IBPS PO main exam which is tentatively scheduled on 30th November 2019.


The Eligibility Criteria 

All the aspirants willing to appear for the IBPS PO exam must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria. Failing to do so the candidate will not be allowed to take the exam. Below are the complete details of the eligibility criteria regarding IBPS PO.


Age Limit: The first and the foremost criteria that the candidates must fulfill is the age requirement which is 20 years and the maximum age is 30 years. Age limit is one of the important criteria for selection however there are certain instances where relaxation is given.




Nationality: The candidates applying for the IBPS CWE/Bank PO Examination must fulfill any one of the below citizenship or nationality requirements. 


  • Must be an Indian national of having Indian Citizenship.
  • He or She is a subject of Bhutan or Nepal.
  • A Tibetan Refugee who has moved to India prior to 1st January 1962 with intention of permanent settlement.
  • Candidates migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi but are People Of Indian Origin. 




Educational Qualification: In order to appear for the IBPS CWE exam the candidate must possess a basic graduation degree like BA, B.Com, BSc, B.Tech, or any equivalent qualification. It can be in any discipline but from a University recognized by the Government of India. The candidates must have valid mark sheets and degrees to substantiate their claims. If the final results are awaited they must be declared on or before September 2019. The degree certificates should reflect the percentage of marks obtained. Universities, where the result is grade or CGPA based the candidate, must covert the same into a percentage. 


Apart from the educational qualifications, the candidates must also have a working knowledge of computer systems and as well as language proficiency of the state. 


The Online Application Process

The application for IBPS PO Exam 2019 is available online on their official website. But one must ensure that you open the form in one of the following web browsers. This might be helpful to avoid technical errors. The list of web browsers include


  1. Internet Explorer 8 and above
  2. Google Chrome 3.0 and above
  3. Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and above

Apart from this some other prerequisites to apply online include

  • A valid email ID, 
  • 4.5cm × 3.5cm size photograph, 
  • Left thumb impression and signature as per specification

Now download the application form, upload all the required documents and photographs, make online payment of the application fees and make the final submission. During the application process, a registration number and password will be generated by the system. If the need arises the candidates can edit their particulars. The application fees for SC/ST/PWD category are INR 100 while for the General and Other categories it is INR 600. Finally, after the application process download, the hall ticket or the admit card in order to appear for the examination.
