In the previous posts we have had an understanding about the requirements and eligibility for IBPS PO exams. The subsequent step is to kick-start your preparations for the same. The post below provides a complete guide of exam pattern, syllabus and preparation tips. In 2019 it will be the 9th edition of the exam and is slated to be conducted in the month of October.
The IBPS has a preliminary as well as a main exam for hiring candidates into public sector banks at the PO level. Both the written exams are conducted online. After this there is a face to face interview process as well before the final selection is made. First is the preliminary exam that is known to last for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The question paper for the exam is divided into 3 sections English Language, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability. Each of the sections is known to carry a weightage of 30,35 and 35 marks respectively. The cut off criteria for each of the sections is decided by the IBPS. Also one must not forget that there is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
Unlike the30prelims the question paper for the main exam has 5 sections in total. The first four sections include Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, English Language and General Economy & Banking Awareness. Apart from this there is also an English Language test that is conducted. The overall duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Once the final list of qualified candidates is posted after the main exam there is an interview process. It is conducted by a panel of bank officials and takes 15-20 minutes. The interview has a weightage of 100 marks with a minimum of 40% being the qualifying marks. Questions asked during the interview process can be anything from current affairs, banking related, general awareness and many more. Once the interview process is over a final list of the candidates is prepared depending upon the marks secured in the main exam and interview. The weightage of marks given is 80:20 for mains and the interview. An important point to note here is that the candidates must qualify both the mains and interview separately.
