Full job description

A test engineer designs, implements, and executes tests to ensure a product's quality, functionality, and reliability, often collaborating with design teams, developers, and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include developing test plans and cases, identifying and documenting defects, performing various types of testing (manual and automated), reporting findings, and suggesting improvements. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of different testing methodologies and tools, and the ability to work effectively within the entire product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Design: Create detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts based on product requirements and specifications.

Test Execution: Perform manual testing (functional, regression, integration) and develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium or other automation frameworks.

Defect Management: Identify, log, track, and verify defects using bug-tracking tools and collaborate with developers to resolve them.

Quality Assurance: Conduct various tests, including functional, performance, security, and load testing, to ensure the product meets quality standards.

Reporting: Document test results, defects, and overall findings, providing detailed reports and recommendations to development teams and management.

Collaboration: Work with product owners, developers, and business analysts to understand requirements, identify risks, and discuss potential improvements.

Process Improvement: Suggest feedback to enhance the quality of the product development process and streamline testing procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Knowledge: Experience with software engineering, programming languages, test automation tools (e.g., Selenium), bug-tracking systems (e.g., Jira), and CI/CD pipelines.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking and the ability to deconstruct products to identify potential issues.

Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for detail to spot errors and potential improvements.

Communication: Excellent communication skills to report findings and collaborate with various teams.

Creativity: Ability to think creatively and develop innovative approaches for testing product limits.

Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field like computer technology or engineering is often required.
