Business Unit Introduction:

India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of IBM Systems world-wide technology development lab. Established in 1996, the Lab is headquartered in Bengaluru, with a strong presence in Pune and Hyderabad. Developers at ISDL deliver technology innovations across the entire IBM Systems portfolio - z Systems, Power / OpenPOWER Systems and Storage. The team here works across the entire stack from processor design, firmware, operating system, systems software, performance engineering to software defined storage.

The Lab also focuses on innovations, thanks to the creative energies of the teams. It has contributed over 400+ patents in cutting edge technologies and inventions so far. While computing veers towards cognitive, cloud, mobile, social, and security, the lab has significantly contributed to not just new products focused in these areas, but has also ushered in new development models such as Agile, Design Thinking and DevOps.

Who You are :

IBM India Systems Development Lab is looking for Firmware Test Engineering Professionals in the IBM Power Systems Firmware team.

You will be responsible for testing system firmware that runs on IBM Power Systems spanning entry level servers to enterprise level high end servers with feature rich Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features.

You will work with the OpenPOWER partners and OpenBMC community for Firmware test and support.

What You will do :

You will be responsible to:

·       Collaborate with IBM Power Product teams and third party translation team to manage and help execute product viewable content/PII testing (ICT/TVT)

·       Gather screen images and testcases as needed to support the translation testcases

Test system firmware that runs on IBM Power Systems spanning entry level servers to enterprise level high end servers with feature rich Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features. 

Work with the OpenPOWER partners and OpenBMC community for Firmware test and support.

·       Drive testing of firmware features to ensure high quality product

·       Automate tests as part of the agile development process

·       Interact with the development team to understand requirements and design

·       Collaborate with other teams to define/understand requirements.

·       Contribute in developing an environment of continuous improvement across product lines and development groups.

·       Continuously Innovate to ensure better customer experience of firmware features

Your role and responsibilities

The candidate will own and manage the test plan for graphical interface for each Product requiring testing.

Using the test plan the candidate will:

For each English screenshot, capture corresponding screenshot for each Language (NL).

Load the English+NL screenshots into the Globalization Pipeline (GP) tool.

Map new/changed message strings in GP to the screenshot(s) that display the message.

Create ICT request to have translation testers from Straker (external) review translations.

Defect routing, management, and coordination between IBM and translation 3rd party partner Straker (external).

Required technical and professional expertise

2 - 6 years of experience in Product Testing

Experience with working on open-source software using tools such as git

Knowledge and use of Software tools to capture screen shots

Ability to understand test plans and testcase and work independently.  

Knowledge and use of Software Technology to execute file transfers and defect creation. 

Proven Experience in Automation frameworks

Proven Experience with Python and other any scripting languages

Proven Experience in Linux, Git and Gerrit 

Exposure to Embedded environment

Experience with working on open-source software using tools such as git

Preferred technical and professional experience

Exposure to Server domain 

Knowledge of IBM Power systems software/architecture 

Interest in low level Hardware

Understanding of network and security testing
